The South Carolina Youth Challenge Academy has been given the opportunity to participate in the 3D ThinkLink Initiative. Two staff members trained in Washington D.C to learn how to teach and implement the program into SCYCA. The program is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education project that introduces students to the field of manufacturing, using 3D design and printing classes to teach critical thinking skills that help at-risk teens make better decisions as they enter adulthood. This experience will open the cadets to a considerable amount of career opportunities such as, automotive and aerospace engineering, cooking, medicine, architecture and art. Three cadets will be selected to travel to Washington D.C at the end of June to have more intensive training on 3D printing.
